What type of source media? Do you get audio when you convert the files?

Right now in particular I am going AVCHD files. I do have audio in the clips once they are rewrapped or transcoded to ProRes.

Hmm, that's odd. Do you get audio if you drop in another type of file (say a basic quicktime movie)? You may have a non-standard AC3 decoder installed on your mac. You can look for anything labeled "AC3" or "A52" in the following folders (and if you find it, drag it to your desktop then relaunch editready). You can get to these folders by selecting "go" from the Finder and then doing "go to folder"
/Library/QuickTime/
/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components
~/Library/QuickTime/
~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components

I went to all those places and didn't find anything like that. The ~/Library/QuickTime/ was also not found...

And playing a normal quicktime file (like from an iPhone or something) - does that work?

Odd, why don't you drop us a line directly at support@divergentmedia.com - this isn't a very efficient way to troubleshoot. We'll need to start narrowing down what might be interfering with AC3 playback on your Mac.
