Requests - Customize Drop Down Naming Conventions, Date Convention, and Dropdowns

Will try to be clear . . . When you go to the "Dest File Name" dropdown Menu, I'd love to be able to set the default choices there, and add things like "Reel Name" into the pulldown.

Also, for the file naming, I'd love a way to grab just the Date out of the "Creation Date" tag, without the time. Some sort of customization on that date tag would be fantastic for file naming. So, rather than "2015-07-14 16-39-10" as my file name, it could just be "2015-07-14" I don't see a way to do that now, so maybe something that could be implemented?

Lastly, I'd love to see some kind of way to distinguish your "Preferred Metadata" or the ability to have a custom menu. Example, when you click "Edit Metadata for Flagged", I see about 6 choices including "Camera", "Clip", and "General". I'd love to see that dropdown have "Custom", with the specific tags that I like to use regularly available in it.

BTW, I LOVE the ability to rewrap AVCHD and P2 into quicktimes quickly and easily. I despise their whole folder structure, and am absolutely thrilled with EditReady for so easily rewrapping and renaming these videos. That is becoming an important part of our workflow. The benefits are enormous. First you rewrap and rename in Editready. Then you import into editing. The files are already named something meaningful in your bin, instead of being named "00001" or "3BX5DQ". No more renaming in the bins, only to have the original file not have the same name. AND, when editing is done and it is time to archive the footage, it is ready to go. Love it.

A few customizations with easing the metadata entry and naming conventions and It will be absolutely perfect.

Hi Scott - thanks for the feedback. We're working on some exciting additions to the naming / destination workflow right now.

One tip, if you're a little technical - inside the EditReady.app, you'll find a file named "metadataLookup.json" which controls what appears in the edit metadata dropdown - you're free to make changes to that, as long as the file remains valid JSON.

You know the way MS Excel has choices when you format a cell for dates? You can choose yyyy-mm-dd, mm-dd-yyyy, mm-dd-yy, Month dd yyyy, or yyyy-mm-dd-hh-mm-ss (your default) among other choices. This type of thing is what I'd like to see in the Creation Date choice for the naming convention, so you can add the date to the name, but not have it be 20 characters long. The one I would specifically like, is "yymmdd", taking it down to six characters. Could you do something to pull that info out of the metadata, and tweak it for the naming convention?

While it's not something you can do today, it's definitely something we're thinking about.

Awesome quick responses. I'll look into that metadataLookup.json file.

I now have a custom tab in the metadata edit choices with a few good, select choices. Awesome. Thanks for the hack.
